I want to congratulate you on choosing "Biblical" counselling over "psychological" counselling. The hidden truth is that 90+% of Christian counselling is actually humanistic psychology under the name of "Christian". The principles of these "Christian Counsellors" are based in psychology. On the other hand, "Biblical counselling" is Bible based and Bible centred. In other words, it is founded on the wisdom and principles of the Word of God.

Consider the warning in Psalm 1…

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly (psychology), nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (Biblical counselling)
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. (psychology)
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

God places a great emphasis on walking with God, and it is absolutely, unequivocally essential to Biblical counselling. If you do not attend a Biblically sound church weekly, and have a daily time with God, the Biblical counselling that you learn will fail because you are walking in the flesh and not in the Spirit. There is absolutely no choice if you want to turn things around in your life, and I know you do, because you are on this page.
